Věra Jourová
Hailing from the Czech town of Třebíč, Věra Jourová has been the European Commission‘s Vice-President for Values and Transparency since 2019. As part of her role, she has been tasked with overseeing the maintenance of rule of law, and ensuring that the European Union’s democratic values and freedoms are upheld. Before this, she held the post of the Minister of Regional Development, before going on to become the European Commissioner for Justice, Consumers, and Gender Equality. In 2019, Forbes Magazine named her as one of their Top 100 most influential people of the year. She has previously voiced concerns over the status of rule of law in Poland.
